The MasterWorks of New Mexico Spring Art Show is now in its 25th year of exhibition!
It began with a unique vision, that of combining the talents and experiences of existing fine arts organizations, each representing artists throughout New Mexico, to sponsor a show of New Mexico’s finest art. The charter board of representatives consisted of the Pastel Society of New Mexico, the New Mexico Watercolor Society, and “Miniature Arts Bardean”. It founded, then included in its second year, a new organization for oils, acrylics, and mixed media not framed under glass, the Rio Grande Art Association. The Spring Show is in fact four separately juried shows, which are hung together after judging and the awarding of ribbons and prizes. All New Mexico artists can enter.
Judges and Jurors have been extremely qualified these past twenty four years, and have willingly given time and expertise to an exemplary show of New Mexico’s best. *For 2020 the Jurors were Angus MacPherson, Jeannie Sellmer, and Penny Simpson. They comprised a virtual online show of works, due to the COVD19 event. The awards for Standard Works were postponed. The Miniatures Division was also postponed.
Donny Weber was Judge for our virtual 2021 Show. The three Jurors for 2021 were Barbara Coleman, Grant Macdonald, and Alvin Gill-Tapia. Awards were given virtually. The Miniatures were once again postponed until 2022.
Our Judge for standard works in 2022 was Michelle Dunaway. Her Jurors were Augustine Romero, Jeff Otis, and Elizabeth Hahn. Judge for Miniatures was Mary Sweet. Her Jurors were Ann Lewis, Mike Meyer, and Susan Brooke. It was good to have this be an on-site event!
