Framing Standards for Miniature Fine Art

MasterWorks maintains the highest of framing standards for its show.

The frame will be considered part of the artwork to be juried for acceptance into the show.

If you have questions about these requirements, take this information to your framer or call Barbara Lohbeck at 505.260.9977.

Framing to Gallery Standards means:

• Quality Frames. Frames should be new or new-looking, wood, metal or resin in quality to those offered in fine framing shops. Easel back frames are not allowed.

• Mats are optional. There are no color or size restrictions but must be well cut with no debris between the glazing and mat.

• Accepted work must be ready to hang with 2 D-rings or 2 screw eyes.

• Wire attachment is preferred.

• Bumpers should be part of the framing. These help allow the artwork to hang properly and go on the lower corners on the back of the artwork.

• Maximum artwork size including the frame shall be no greater than 56 square inches, that is outer edge width x height = square inches.

• Backs of paintings should look neat. Dust covers are to be used for all media with the exception of metal frames.

Additional Information

• Miniature entry identification label must be taped to the back.

• It is acceptable to tape a business card to the back of the painting.
